I would like to start learning tenor sax. I have no experience with saxophones. I play trombone and guitar if that helps. I do not know what saxophone to buy. Yamaha YTS 23. I have a budget of $ 500- $ 700. What would you recommend?
Buy a used one, by the help of an experienced sax player/ your sax teacher (you need one, especially at the beginning). So you can get a quite good sax for the money, and you don't loose (much) money if you change your mind again, as you can sell it for (more or less) the same price again.
Hello Agree to @visir Option to the mentioned YTS23 are YTS 275 or 280 when you look into Yamaha products But go with a player and test it
Have bought a Selmer Bundy (students sax from the 80s) for my wife (for playing outside in the rain, marching band etc.) short time ago for aprox. 400€, good in shape, robust, plays very good (better than the cheap yamaha, jupiter etc.), and keeps its value over time. Perhaps an alternative way to think about. Like to play it in duet with her (she plays normally SA II). And yes: go buying and testing with someone who knows ...
