For the last 10 days I’ve had a pinched nerve that causes pain in my left side and prohibits me from playing my instrument. I’ve had to devote my energy into healing myself and the journey continues. This morning, I was invited to join a prayer for peace meeting, and was given an immense gift: the chance for a legend of music, teacher of life, and friend, Herbie Hancock, to introduce me to Wayne Shorter. This is what Mr. Shorter said to me. “An airplane cannot take off without resistance.”
