Soeben auf youtube entdeckt. FYI Selmer vs Yanigasawa Sax comparison test vintage/modern Quelle: youtube, Veröffentlicht am 14.12.2016 For years I played a Selmer mk 7 Alto - it was a bit unwieldy! But at least it was a Selmer! A good friend in London lent me his mk 6 for 10 years and I was in love. When I came to live in Argentina in 2005 I had to give it back. I looked around for a mk6 without success. I opted to buy a brand new Yanigasawa as it was so similar to the Selmer I had loved and borrowed and played really well straight out of the box. The other day a good friend of mine Julio called me, he wanted me my opinion on a recent overhaul he had carried out on his early Selmer mk 6. I took the opportunity to do a quick test comparison- just for fun. A was a little apprehensive that jealousy might ensue and I might prefer his vintage horn! As it turned out I was sanguine with the result as both horns seem to sound the same and I felt my Yanigisawa a little easier to play (probably as I am used to it) I should say that I felt the Selmer marginally brighter in response. Having a very bright natural sound I am pleased to stay with my Yani as it is just a tad darker. (Also the test was carried out quite quickly and the first Rico Jazz 3m reed I grabbed was a little softer than ideal!) Also the mouthpiece used was a regular Meyer 6. I thought using a duet as source material would facilitate hearing the differences Gruß
