Windy City Woodwinds schliessen. Ab 1.

    Thank you.
Dear Windy City Woodwinds Friends and Family,

We hope this message finds you well. It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that we announce the closure of Windy City Woodwinds. This decision has been a difficult one, but we believe it is the right step as we move forward in our personal and professional lives.

Over the past four years, we have achieved incredible milestones together. We have created custom mouthpieces for schools, provided mouthpieces for musicians in need, and delivered our products to over twenty countries around the world. Your support and enthusiasm have been the driving force behind our success.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Wally Wallace, Theo Wanne, our customers, consultants, mentors, and advisors who have supported us throughout this journey. Your guidance and support have been invaluable in shaping us as a company and as people.

Despite our passion for Windy City Woodwinds, we have come to a point where we must address new responsibilities. Balancing the demands of running a business while managing our schoolwork has been challenging, and as we graduate college and transition into full-time jobs, we can no longer dedicate the time and energy needed to continue operating Windy City Woodwinds.

Our product line has become well-established with our 56, 64, and 72 series jazz mouthpieces, each carefully crafted to cater to distinct sound profiles. We are incredibly proud of having created accessible mouthpieces suitable for saxophonists of all levels.

With this in mind, we are excited to announce that we will be open sourcing our mouthpiece models. This means that the designs and specifications of our mouthpieces will be freely available for the community to use, modify, and build upon. We hope this will enable saxophonists and enthusiasts worldwide to continue exploring and innovating with the tools we’ve developed.

Starting from June 1st, you will be able to access the open-source files for free on the Windy City Woodwinds website and Thingiverse. We encourage you to share your creations, modifications, and experiences with us and the wider community. Furthermore, any tips received on these platforms will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). We will also include a link on our website where you can donate to NAMI directly.

Thank you for being a part of our journey and for believing in Windy City Woodwinds. Your support has meant the world to us, and we are grateful for every customer, musician, and partner we have had the honor to work with.

    Warm regards,

    Kevin Braner and Neil Xu
